Several roads in Kurzeme to close Friday for rally test drives

On Friday, September 25, rally test drives will take place in the Kalvene parish, resulting in the closure of two state local roads — Rudbārži–Kalvene (V1275) and Turlava–Valtaiķi–Embūte (V1295) — from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. The state joint stock company Latvian State Roads (LVC) informed Delfi of the closures.

Drivers needing to pass through the area are advised to use detour routes via neighboring local roads or the Liepāja highway (A9).

Construction season remains active

LVC notes that extensive roadworks are currently underway across the state road network, with work continuing at 52 sections, including on ten bridges. In Preiļi municipality, for example, a section of the Viļāni–Preiļi–Špoģi road between Preiļi and Raudauka has two traffic-light-controlled zones, with crossing taking about 20 minutes.

Restrictions also affect several major highways. On the Daugavpils highway between Kalniški and Ļūbaste, speed limits of 50 and 70 km/h apply, with a crossing time of about 20 minutes. On the Jelgava highway near the Lithuanian border, two traffic-light zones are in place with similar speed limits, while on the Vidzeme highway between Sigulda and Augšlīgatne, one traffic-light zone requires about 25 minutes to cross.

Additional restrictions apply on several regional roads, including sections of Valdgale–Roja, Tīnūži–Koknese, Gulbene–Balvi–Viļaka, Ilmāja–Priekule, Bauska–Aizkraukle, Cēsis–Vecpiebalga–Madona, Rīgas HES–Jaunjelgava, and Jaunkalsnava–Lubāna, where crossing times range from 20 to 45 minutes.
