Rain expected across Latvia on Friday, heaviest in Vidzeme and northern Kurzeme
Weather on Friday, September 25, will be shaped by a cyclone centered over Estonia, bringing cloudy and rainy conditions to Latvia, with the strongest rain expected in western Vidzeme and northern Kurzeme.
Latvia's weather on Friday will be governed by a cyclone centered over Estonia, according to meteorologists. The heaviest rainfall is expected in the Vidzeme region, particularly its western part, as well as in the northern districts of Kurzeme.
Latgale will see comparatively less precipitation, while the driest conditions in the country are forecast for Dienvidkurzeme municipality. Skies will be mostly overcast across most of Latvia.
Winds will be light to moderate, blowing mainly from the west and southwest, though in the eastern part of the country winds will come from the south. Gusts in Vidzeme may reach up to 14 meters per second, while along the Vidzeme and northern Kurzeme coasts gusts could reach as high as 18 meters per second.
Air temperatures on Friday will range between +10 and +15 degrees Celsius.
Weather in Riga
In the capital, skies will be covered by thick cloud, with prolonged rain expected, at times heavy. Winds will be light to moderate from the southwest, and temperatures in Riga will not exceed +13 degrees.
Sea-level atmospheric pressure across the country will range from 1005 hectopascals in northwestern Vidzeme to 1012 hectopascals in Dienvidkurzeme municipality and southern Latgale.
