Latvia to see partial lunar eclipse Friday morning

A partial lunar eclipse will be visible in Latvia early Friday morning, 28 August, the Latvian Astronomical Society reports.

The Latvian Astronomical Society (LAB) has announced that residents of Latvia will be able to observe a partial lunar eclipse in the early hours of Friday, 28 August.

A lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth passes between the Sun and the Moon, casting its shadow onto the Moon's surface. In this case, only part of the Moon will fall within Earth's shadow, producing a partial eclipse rather than a total one.

The society has called on those interested in the phenomenon to observe the sky early in the morning, as the eclipse will be visible from Latvian territory. No further details on the exact timing or duration were provided in the announcement.
