Liepaja beach to host fifth annual Beach Games Liepaja sports festival
The fifth Beach Games Liepaja sports festival will take place on August 8 at Liepaja central beach, featuring competitions in four sports. Participants can join beach wrestling, beach tennis, functional fitness, and 3x3 football.
Liepaja’s central beach will once again play host to the Beach Games Liepaja sports festival on August 8, marking the fifth consecutive year of the event. According to the organizer Jānis Rērihs, a board member of the association "Cīņas sporta klubs "Liepāja"", this year’s programme includes competitions in four sports, just like last year: functional fitness, beach wrestling, beach tennis, and 3x3 football.
In beach wrestling, both younger and adult athletes will compete, with the strongest participant determined both in weight categories and overall. Beach tennis has seen a notable rise in both competitive level and participation, so matches will be held across six courts. In functional fitness, adults will have separate sport and amateur classes, while a dedicated group is reserved for youth participants. Football, meanwhile, will be played in a 3-on-3 format, ensuring a dynamic and fast-paced contest.
Registration for participants will open at the venue at 9:00 AM, with the competitions scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM. Spectators will also have the chance to join in and try some of the sporting activities themselves.
