Ünne Pillak, head of the Reform Party's parliamentary group, stated in an interview with ERR that the name of Chancellor of Justice Ülle Madise has frequently appeared in the party's internal discussions about potential presidential candidates. According to Pillak, Madise would be a very strong and promising candidate who could also garner support outside party lines.

"I think that Ülle Madise would undoubtedly be a very strong and promising candidate who could receive support beyond party frameworks. She has carried out her work impartially, fairly, and very devotedly. She has a broad outlook, is intelligent, educated, and enjoys society's trust and respect. I believe she would also have strong support within the Reform Party," Pillak said.

Pillak emphasized that it would be appropriate to first ask Madise whether she even wishes to run for president. "It is worth listening to her opinion on whether she agrees to put forward her candidacy. I hope she will make a positive decision," Pillak added.

She considered the Social Democrats' early move to put forward Madise's name as a positive sign, as it gives the public an opportunity to engage in the discussion. "The Social Democrats said she could be one of the candidates under discussion. They did not say they are nominating her now. The more names are brought up for discussion, the more actively society can participate in this process. I think that is good, and I hope more names will appear soon," Pillak noted.

Leaders of the Social Democratic Party on Wednesday proposed that other parties consider Chancellor of Justice Ülle Madise as a presidential candidate. Later, the party Eesti 200 also announced its readiness to support Madise in her bid for the presidency.
