British journalist Tim Jones, writing in The Guardian, has revealed his first trip to Ibiza at age 16, which was anything but a pleasant vacation.

Jones went with three friends on their first trip without parents to the island popular among youth. On the first morning, they were greeted by an unpleasant surprise – someone had broken into their hotel room and used the sink as a toilet. Hotel staff refused to help, and the teenagers had to clean up themselves.

The next day, neighbors from the floor above threw used hygiene products onto their balcony. Trip organizers constantly urged them to participate in expensive party programs involving continuous drinking and humiliating games. Every morning, participants were taken to pools or beaches where alcohol challenges took place. Jones felt uncomfortable and hoped he wouldn't have to join in.

Walking past souvenir shops, he noticed a postcard saying: "If you're tired of Ibiza, you're tired of life." At that moment, he realized he felt exactly that – tired of life. However, looking back, Jones concludes that the problem wasn't the island but his own unpreparedness for that environment. He was a scared 16-year-old making bad decisions.

This unsuccessful experience became a lesson: a successful trip depends not on the destination but on the people and readiness. Later, Jones returned to Ibiza multiple times and finally enjoyed concerts, nightclubs, and beach parties that made the island a famous entertainment destination.
