Heavy rain and strong winds expected in Latvia on Monday

The Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre (LVĢMC) warns that a cyclone will cross Latvia on Monday, July 20, bringing adverse weather. On the night before Monday, locally light rain is expected, with weak winds and fog in some areas. Temperatures will drop to +12..+17°C.

During the day, the cyclone will move from the south, bringing cloudy and rainy weather. In the western part and northern Vidzeme, rain will be very heavy in places, with possible thunderstorms. Wind will mostly remain light, but along the coast and in Kurzeme it will intensify from the northeast and east, gusting to 15-18 m/s. On the Kurzeme coast, gusts may reach 20-21 m/s.

Air temperatures will rise to +20..+24°C in eastern regions, while the west will be cooler at +15..+20°C.

In Riga, the night will be partly cloudy with no precipitation, light wind, and temperatures of +15..+17°C. The day will be mostly cloudy, with rain in the afternoon and evening, locally heavy and possibly with thunderstorms. Wind will remain light but gusty during storms. The maximum temperature will reach +20..+22°C.
