Juventus have abandoned plans to sign Emiliano Martinez, while Real Madrid and Manchester City pursue fresh reinforcements as the summer window nears its close. Several other English and European clubs are also active in the market.
Juventus have dropped their pursuit of Aston Villa's Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, 33, after talks between the two clubs stalled.
Manchester City are working to land Chelsea's Portugal winger Pedro Neto, 26, though Saudi side Al-Hilal are also competing for his signature.
Real Madrid's new manager Jose Mourinho is said to have given the go-ahead for a deal to sign Arsenal's Spain midfielder Martin Zubimendi, 27.
Strikers in demand
Several clubs are chasing Chelsea striker Liam Delap, 23, with Nottingham Forest joining the race while Everton remain the frontrunners after Chelsea told the player he could leave this summer.
Newcastle are preparing a bid of around 55m euros (£47m) for Villarreal's Georgia forward Georges Mikautadze, 25, who has also drawn interest from Barcelona.
Nigeria forward Victor Osimhen, 27, has not ruled out leaving Galatasaray this summer, with Arsenal among the clubs interested.
Other deals
Coventry City are nearing a deal for Fenerbahce's Guinea forward Sidiki Cherif, 19. Everton also want to sign Bournemouth midfielder Marcus Tavernier, 27, before the window closes.
A move for Leeds United forward Joel Piroe, 27, to West Ham is reportedly in its final stages, while Hull City are in advanced talks for Panathinaikos forward Andreas Tetteh in a deal worth around £21m, with Roma also keen.
Manchester United could sell academy left-back Harry Amass, 19, for roughly £7m. AC Milan boss Ruben Amorim has left France midfielder Youssouf Fofana, 27, out of his plans, attracting interest from Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace. Atletico Madrid hope to beat Barcelona to Morocco midfielder Azzedine Ounahi, 26, valued by Girona at about 25m euros.
