US technology publication WIRED has published a roundup of early Black Friday deals on coffee machines. The offers arrive ahead of Thanksgiving in the United States, a holiday when many people host guests and serve coffee after the meal. WIRED says each machine has been tested by one of its reviewers, who personally recommends it.

Machines on sale

The Breville Barista Express is a semiautomatic machine discounted by $200. The sale applies only to the black and stainless steel colors. WIRED says it was its top pick for years until Fellow's Series 1 overtook it; that model is not currently on sale. The Breville remains a bestseller because of its durability and design.

The Meraki Tech Espresso Machine is also semiautomatic and has a dual boiler, so milk can be frothed while a shot is being pulled. It has a built-in conical burr grinder and is $200 cheaper. It narrowly missed a place among WIRED's top picks because of maintenance concerns, including an overly complicated descaling procedure.

The Diletta Mio is WIRED's favorite traditional, Italian-made espresso machine, and it is $200 off. It has a PID temperature controller that keeps brewing temperatures stable, but buyers need to purchase a grinder separately.

The Casabrews 5700 PRO is a simple semiautomatic with a built-in grinder and a milk frother, discounted by $50. It has a single boiler, so frothing and pulling a shot cannot happen at the same time. WIRED contributing reviewer Pete Cottell, a former barista, uses it at home.

The Nespresso Vertuo Pop+ is a pod machine with a $50 discount. The bundle includes the Aeroccino 3 milk frother, valued at $100. The reviewer was impressed by the drink's body and mouthfeel, although Vertuo pods do not produce true espresso.
