PlayStation Network Suffers Massive Outage
The PlayStation Network is experiencing a widespread outage affecting all Sony gaming services, including account login, the PlayStation Store, game streaming, and older platforms like PS3 and PS Vita.
According to the PlayStation Service Status page, all services are currently experiencing issues. Players may be unable to log into their accounts, play online games, or make purchases from the PlayStation Store. The outage also impacts game streaming, PlayStation Direct (Sony's hardware store), and legacy platforms such as the PS Vita, PS4, and PS3.
The disruption has already had real-world consequences, delaying the EA Sports FC 26 championship at the Esports World Cup. Sony has yet to publicly acknowledge the outage on its PlayStation Support social media account, despite recent announcements about phasing out physical game discs by 2028 in favor of digital distribution. The incident highlights the vulnerability of digital-only gaming, as network failures can render games unplayable or unpurchasable.
Engadget has reached out to Sony for comment on the outage and recovery efforts, but has not yet received a response.
