Latvia's top beach volleyball duos rank second and fifth ahead of final elite season stretch

In the world beach volleyball rankings, Latvia's Mārtiņš Pļaviņš/Kristians Fokerots sit second among men and Tīna Graudiņa/Anastasija Samoilova fifth among women, as the Beach Pro Tour nears its transition to a new format.

The Beach Pro Tour, which replaced the World Tour in March 2022, is approaching its end. The final elite-level stage has already been played, and in November the tour will be succeeded by a new competition format, the Beach World Series.

At the Montreal elite stage, both of Latvia's leading duos — Mārtiņš Pļaviņš/Kristians Fokerots in the men's event and Tīna Graudiņa/Anastasija Samoilova in the women's event — finished fifth.

Men's ranking

Pļaviņš/Fokerots earned 760 points for their Montreal result, but this effectively did not change their overall ranking total, since the pair already had better results banked from earlier events. The Latvian duo holds second place in the world ranking with 7,860 points, trailing leaders Jakub Hyltins-Nilsson/Elmer Andersson of Sweden (8,020 points) by 160 points. Latvia's other duos rank much lower — Artūrs Rinkevičs/Ardis Bedrītis are 40th and Edgars Točs/Gustavs Auziņš are 70th.

Women's ranking

Graudiņa/Samoilova also earned 760 points in Montreal, but 140 unprotected points were dropped from their ranking total. The duo currently sits fifth in the world ranking with 7,540 points. The rankings are led by Brazil's Carol/Rebecca with 8,780 points. The Hamburg elite champions, Switzerland's Nina Brunner and Tanja Hüberli, currently rank only 18th, as they have not yet played enough events to rebuild their points total after Hüberli's maternity break. Another Latvian pair, Līva Ēbere/Deniela Konstantinova, ranks 101st.

In 2025, Graudiņa/Samoilova finished the season fourth overall, while Pļaviņš/Fokerots finished eighth.
