Sony has officially confirmed that its first-party wireless fight stick, the PlayStation FlexStrike, has been delayed indefinitely. The device was originally scheduled to launch on August 6, 2026, alongside the release of MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls.

The company cites "unexpected production delays" as the reason for the postponement. Customers who have pre-ordered are advised to check for updates from their respective retailers. Those who purchased directly from PlayStation can verify their order status on the official website.

The FlexStrike is priced at $199.99 and comes with a sling carrying case. Pre-orders began on June 12. Sony states that it wants to deliver the best possible experience to players, so additional time is needed to put the finishing touches on the product.

The fight stick is compatible with PS5 and PC, and was produced by PlayStation itself. It is designed specifically for competitive players who frequently travel to tournaments or friends' homes. The buttons are positioned on a slight incline, with a touchpad above them. The stick is customizable with swappable restrictor gates that change the impact zone shape.

Connectivity options include wireless via a PlayStation Link USB adapter or a low-latency wired USB-C connection. Sony first announced the FlexStrike in June 2025 under the codename Project Defiant, touting it as the company's first wireless fight stick. Almost exactly a year later, the release date was revealed and pre-orders began. Now, that date has been withdrawn without any firm promises. The indefinite delay is disappointing news for the fighting game community and for anyone looking forward to those large transparent buttons.
