PlayStation Plus says goodbye to nine games in August 2026
PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers have until August 18 to play nine titles leaving the catalog, including Dead Island 2, Harold Halibut, and Unicorn Overlord.
Sony has confirmed that nine games will be removed from the PS Plus Extra and Premium catalog on August 18. Five of these – Bomber Crew, Clash: Artifacts of Chaos, Onee Chanbara Origin, Roki, and Space Crew: Legendary Edition – were originally scheduled for removal in July but received a one-month extension. The remaining four are Dead Island 2, Earth Defense Force 6, Harold Halibut, and Unicorn Overlord.
Subscribers have until August 18 to play these games or purchase them outright. Starting July 21, new titles will arrive: Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Rise of the Ronin, Firefighting Simulator: Ignite, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita's Rewind, Dying Light, Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector, and Snow Bros. Wonderland. Premium members also get access to Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy and Indigo Prophecy.
Separately, the monthly games available from July 7 to August 3 are Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, For the King II, and CrossCode. These can be downloaded and kept as long as the membership is active.
Sony announced this summer that it will stop producing disc-based games in 2028, almost confirming that its next console, the PS6, will not support physical media. This move aligns with the broader industry shift toward digital distribution and subscription models, as Xbox and Nintendo also increasingly focus on online marketplaces and digital purchases.
