PLD Space, a space transportation company based in Elche, Spain, has announced an extension of its Series C funding round with an additional €108 million investment. The round, originally launched in March 2026, was once again led by Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, with Spanish public funds manager COFIDES returning as a co-investor after participating in the initial round.

The extension brings the Series C total to €288 million, while the company's aggregate funding since founding now stands at €488 million. New investors joining this round include Endeavor Catalyst, the global venture capital fund of the Endeavor organisation, and the Spain Oman Private Equity Fund (SOPEF), managed by MCH Private Equity. Banco Santander served as financial advisor on the deal, while Deloitte provided legal counsel.

Ezequiel Sánchez, PLD Space's Executive President, said the fresh capital strengthens the company's ability to execute its transition into a global commercial launch provider while maintaining operational and financial discipline. He added that the backing of major industrial, public, and financial investors validates the company's growth strategy and will accelerate the commercialisation of its MIURA 5 rocket, expand production capacity, and support sustainable long-term commercial operations.

A year of momentum

The new funding caps off a series of major developments for PLD Space this year. Last month, the European Space Agency awarded the company €158.9 million under its European Launcher Challenge programme. In March, PLD Space raised €180 million in its initial Series C round, followed by a €30 million venture-debt facility from the European Investment Bank in April, and a €35 million investment in June to support its Launch Complex at the Guiana Space Centre.

Founded in 2011 by Raúl Torres and Raúl Verdú, PLD Space designs and manufactures reusable rockets, including its MIURA family of launchers and the crewed LINCE capsule, aiming to provide reliable and sustainable access to space for research and commercial customers. The new capital will go toward industrialising the MIURA 5 rocket, expanding production and testing capacity, and building out launch infrastructure. The company employs more than 500 people and operates over 188,000 square metres of facilities across Spain, French Guiana, and Oman.
