Plūmiņš starts QMJHL season with 20 saves, Grundmanis posts negative rating

Goaltender Patriks Plūmiņš has begun his Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) season, stopping 20 of 24 shots in his first appearance. His team, the Chicoutimi Sagueneens, started the season poorly, suffering their second consecutive loss — this time falling 2:5 to the Quebec Remparts.

Defenseman Leonards Grundmanis featured for the Charlottetown Islanders, who defeated the Cape Breton Eagles 4:3 in a shootout. Despite the team victory, Grundmanis himself was credited with a negative plus-minus rating of -2 in the game.

Goaltenders remain backups in USHL

In the United States Hockey League (USHL), two Latvian goaltenders, Ivans Kufterins and Nils Mauriņš, currently serve on their respective rosters. Both remained in reserve as their teams secured wins.
