The U.S. Soccer Federation has announced that 54-year-old Argentine coach Mauricio Pochettino will remain in charge of the national team until 2030. In the recent World Cup finals, the United States reached the round of 16 under his leadership, losing 1-4 to Belgium.

The new agreement not only extends the partnership but also grants broader responsibilities to both Pochettino and his coaching staff. He will now also oversee the development of the U.S. youth national teams.

The coach noted that his two years of work with American soccer had made it clear that the national team program has the potential to grow even stronger. He expressed satisfaction at the opportunity to share his experience with a wider segment of the sport.

During the tournament, the U.S. team was also involved in a controversial episode. Following an intervention by President Donald Trump, FIFA lifted a suspension imposed on Folarin Balogun, who had been sent off in the round-of-16 match against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In the group stage, the United States, one of the tournament hosts, defeated Australia and Paraguay, finishing atop Group D.
