Pocognoli set to name first Scotland squad, eyeing Ure before possible Ukraine switch

Scotland's new head coach, Belgian Pocognoli, is set to announce his first squad at 11:00 BST since taking charge of the national team.
Attention is focused on 22-year-old Ure, who has yet to score for his club in Spain but is also eligible to represent Ukraine. The new coach appears keen to bring him into the fold as soon as possible, seemingly aiming to secure his commitment to Scotland.
A squad refresh
Since Pocognoli was confirmed as successor to Steve Clarke, expectations have grown that the Belgian will look to freshen up an ageing squad. Clarke resigned after Scotland failed to reach the knockout stages of a major tournament for the first time.
Heart of Midlothian head coach Wouter Vrancken, also Belgian, said he is confident several of his club's players will be included in the new squad. Particular praise has gone to Hearts' attacking trio — striker James Wilson and wingers Calvin Miller and Josh McPake — for their recent performances.
Former Scotland captain Scott Brown also expressed high hopes for the two Hearts wingers, who have played a significant role in the club's strong start to the season.
Pocognoli will take charge of Scotland for the first time on Saturday, 26 September, in the team's Nations League B opener against Slovenia. His home debut at Hampden Park will follow three days later, against Switzerland.
