Police Reveal Cause of Death of 154th Brigade Commander
Ukrainian police have stated that Colonel Volodymyr Kononnikov, commander of the 154th Separate Mechanized Brigade, died from a gunshot wound. The incident is being investigated as intentional murder.
The commander of the 154th Separate Mechanized Brigade, Colonel Volodymyr Kononnikov, was found dead with a gunshot wound, according to the police of Zaporizhzhia Oblast. The law enforcement agency has opened an investigation under Article 115 (intentional murder) of the Criminal Code.
While police did not officially name the deceased, the operational command "South" earlier confirmed that on June 28, the commander of the 154th Brigade, Kononnikov, was found dead. Initially, "South" stated that a preliminary examination showed no signs of violence.
The Zaporizhzhia Oblast police are conducting investigative actions under the procedural guidance of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Field of Defense of the Eastern Region. The police announcement did not include a note of suicide.
