A Russian aerial bomb struck a shelter housed in a former school building in Komyshuvakha, in Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia region, killing at least 37 people, according to Ukraine's national police. Among the dead is a police officer whose bodycam recorded the moments before the explosion. The footage was published on 4 November 2026 and gives a close view of how people were directed into the shelter shortly before the strike.

What the recording shows

The video shows people gathered outside the former school, anxiously discussing the possibility of further attacks. One woman asks: "Misha, is it coming again?" A warning then sounds over a police radio, saying guided aerial bombs are heading for Komyshuvakha and urging people to take cover.

Officers hurriedly direct people down a staircase into an underground refuge. Moments later, the camera captures a violent explosion.

The weapon used

The shelter was located inside the former school building. It was hit by a Russian FAB-3000 aerial bomb, a powerful weapon weighing roughly three tonnes. Rescue workers kept searching through the wreckage for victims as the scale of the destruction became clear.

The recording offers a rare first-hand perspective on the final warnings and the frantic efforts to reach safety before the building was hit.
