Poland logs 107 Russia-linked espionage cases over 20 months
Poland's national prosecutors have registered 107 top-tier espionage cases tied to Russia since last year, with the pace of new cases holding steady in 2026.
Polish authorities continue to uncover new cases of espionage linked to Russia, according to the latest figures from the country's national prosecutors. A total of 107 such cases have been registered over a 20-month period.
Of these, 67 cases were opened in 2025, while at least 40 more emerged in the first eight months of 2026 alone. The figures indicate that the rate at which new cases are being uncovered has not slowed compared to the previous year.
Notably, these numbers cover only the most serious, top-tier investigations handled directly by Poland's national prosecutors — meaning the true total number of espionage-related cases in the country, including lower-level or less significant ones, could be higher.
The data underscores that Poland, a NATO and European Union member bordering both Russia's Kaliningrad exclave and Belarus, continues to face persistent and extensive intelligence activity from Russia. The high number of registered cases suggests that stepped-up law enforcement efforts have not yet led to a reduction in new espionage cases being detected.
