In a video statement posted on the official Polish presidency account on X, President Karol Nawrocki announced the revocation of the Order of the White Eagle from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, which was awarded three years ago.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha condemned the decision, calling it a strategic mistake and a sign of disrespect. He stated that only Moscow benefits from such an irresponsible move and announced he would return the order he received from Warsaw.
The revocation follows Ukraine's decision on May 26 to rename its Independent Special Operations Center "North" of the Special Operations Forces as "UPA Heroes" to restore historical traditions of the national army. This move sparked outrage in Poland and drew criticism from politicians across the political spectrum.
