Howling wolf cubs filmed on a Polish road at night
A driver in Poland's Warmia-Masuria region filmed several young wolf cubs howling by the roadside at night, with no adult wolves in sight. The footage quickly spread on social media.
A motorist driving through Poland's Warmia-Masuria voivodeship at night captured an unusual scene when his headlights revealed a small group of young wolves gathered by the side of the road, howling loudly.
An unexpected roadside encounter
The video shows the cubs continuing their chorus of yips and howls even as the car approached, seemingly unbothered by the vehicle's presence. The animals were imitating the howling calls typically made by adult wolves. The clip quickly gained traction online, drawing attention from both casual viewers and wildlife enthusiasts.
Why the sighting stands out
Commenters and nature observers pointed out that young wolves appearing on an open road without adult supervision is an unusual occurrence. One possible explanation is that the cubs had briefly strayed from the rest of the pack and were howling to signal their location to their mother.
Expert advice
Wildlife experts note that when encountering young forest animals on the road, the safest course of action is to stay inside the vehicle, keep a distance, and avoid interfering with nature. Adult wolves are usually nearby, watching the situation closely, so human interference could pose risks to both the animals and the people involved.
