Polish Defense Minister: Issue of Transferring MiG-29s to Ukraine Not Yet Resolved

Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz stated that the question of transferring MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine remains open. Ukraine has submitted a proposal to supply drones to Poland within two years, but any transfer must be an exchange, not a one-sided gift.

Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said on Monday, July 6, during a press conference that the issue of transferring MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine has not been resolved yet. He noted that Ukraine has reiterated its interest in the aircraft and has presented a proposal.

According to the minister, Ukraine offered to transfer drones to Poland over the next two years, but any transfer of the jets must be based on an exchange, not a unilateral move by Poland. "We are approaching this very cautiously," Kosiniak-Kamysz added.

Recall that on June 30, the minister had already stated that Ukraine had rejected an agreement under which Poland would transfer MiG-29s in exchange for access to drone technologies. A few days later, he said Ukraine is not sharing its drone technologies with Poland due to a historical dispute between the two countries.
