Farmers' Pensions in Poland in 2026: What KRUS Pays After 30 Years of Insurance
Poland's Agricultural Social Insurance Fund (KRUS) calculates farmers' pensions from a base pension that has stood at PLN 1,780.64 gross since 1 March 2026. In an illustrative case with 30 years of insurance, the pension comes to PLN 2,136.77 a month.
In Poland, farmers' pensions are granted and calculated by KRUS, the Agricultural Social Insurance Fund. Citing KRUS, the outlet topagrar.pl explained how a farmer insured for 30 years would have their pension worked out in 2026. The rules matter for farmers planning their retirement income.
Eligibility conditions
Paying contributions for 30 years is not enough on its own. The person must reach retirement age, which is 60 for women and 65 for men, and must prove at least 25 years of coverage under pension and disability insurance. If these conditions are met, KRUS sets the amount, which does not depend solely on the number of insured years.
The base pension and its two parts
The calculation starts from the base pension, which has been PLN 1,780.64 gross since 1 March 2026. Two components are derived from it: a contribution part and a supplementary part. Each pensioner is assigned individual calculation indicators that are applied to the base pension. These depend on, among other things, the length of work and contribution periods, and contributions paid between 1983 and 1990 also count.
For the contribution part, 1% of the base pension is added for each year of insurance since 1 January 1991. For 30 years that is 30%, or PLN 534.19 gross.
The supplementary part starts at 95% of the base pension if fewer than 20 years are counted in the contribution part. For every full year above 20, it is reduced by 0.5% of the base pension, but it cannot fall below 85%. With 30 years this gives 90%, or PLN 1,602.58 gross.
Example result and the minimum pension
The two parts add up to PLN 2,136.77 gross per month. This is an illustration, not a guaranteed sum for every farmer: KRUS sets the final figure based on insurance records and individual indicators.
Since 1 March 2026 the lowest pension has been PLN 1,978.49 gross a month. If the calculated farmer's pension is lower, it is generally raised to that level, though exceptions exist, for example for certain suspended payments or those paid alongside other benefits.
