The 12th edition of the Lampa conversation festival, held on July 10-11 in Cēsis, brings back the classic “Politician Roast” event. Following a proven formula, comedians will target the brightest and dimmest moments of politicians’ public lives, with politicians given only one chance to respond – a rebuttal speech.

The event will be hosted by comedian Jānis Skutelis. This year’s roasters include playwright Anete Konste, comedian Rūdolfs Kugrēns, actor Jānis Kronis, and newcomer actor-director Matīss Budovskis.

Four politicians have volunteered to face the comedians’ jokes: advertising specialist and Riga City Council member Ēriks Stendzenieks; former Saeima member, culture minister, and MEP Dace Melbārde; Saeima secretary and dairy farmer Jānis Grasbergs; and Saeima member and proud Mazsalaca patriot Harijs Rokpelnis.

The festival will feature around 400 events across 66 locations, with the central question: “What must not be left unspoken?” The festival aims to foster free and respectful exchange of ideas, strengthening democracy and discussion culture in Latvia.
