Political changes in Hungary, Lithuania, and Romania: new leaders and crises
Hungary's Orbán-appointed president resists removal; Lithuania's prime minister to be replaced by ruling party head; Romanian PM-designate loses party support.

Hungary's President Tamás Sulyok, appointed by former Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, has vowed to resist new Prime Minister Péter Magyar's attempt to remove him. Magyar has long promised an eight-year term limit for the premiership, after Orbán's 20-year tenure.
In Lithuania, ruling party leader Mindaugas Sinkevičius will replace the prime minister, with the new coalition to be unveiled on Thursday.
In Romania, the political crisis deepens as PM-designate Adrian Veștea loses his party's support and now relies on dissidents to form a government.
