Lawsuit: Comcast Manager Smashed Pies in Low-Performing Employees' Faces
A lawsuit filed in Connecticut alleges that a Comcast store manager humiliated the lowest-selling employee each month by smashing a cream pie in their face and recording the act.
Comcast's cable division is facing a lawsuit claiming that a store manager in Plainville, Connecticut, instituted a degrading ritual to boost sales. The complaint, filed July 9 in Connecticut Superior Court by former employee David Figueroa, alleges that manager Sully Fuentes Peterson ordered the top-performing salesperson each month to tie the worst performer to a chair in a back office and violently smash a cream pie in their face.
Figueroa, hired on February 2, 2026, claims Peterson designed and implemented the practice, maintaining a chart in the back office ranking staff and marking who had been or was scheduled to be assaulted. The chart included first names, months, and a pie emoji. The lawsuit alleges Peterson videotaped the assaults and required employees to participate and record their own videos. Figueroa says he witnessed and filmed a coworker being tied up and assaulted.
Figueroa resigned on February 27, alleging constructive discharge. He had called regional manager Maranda Cody to report the incidents and sent a text message, but received no response. The lawsuit argues Comcast was negligent for failing to supervise and for allowing a policy that harmed employees for profit.
Comcast provided a statement denying the allegations and emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy for harassment. The company said it disagrees with the characterization of events and will respond through the legal process. The lawsuit seeks compensatory damages for economic losses and emotional distress.
The allegations come as Comcast's cable unit struggles to retain customers, having introduced a five-year price guarantee and no-data-cap plans. President Mike Cavanagh said in April 2025 that the company "is not winning in the marketplace."
