Restoration of Grass Damaged During 'Prāta Vētra' Concert at Liepāja Stadium to Cost Over €15,000; Insurer to Cover Expenses
The grass at Liepāja's Daugava stadium was damaged during a recent Prāta Vētra concert due to heavy rainfall. The restoration costs exceed €15,000 and will be covered by the tour's insurer, Balcia.
Last week, the Daugava stadium in Liepāja hosted the final concert of the "First Day Tour" by the band Prāta Vētra. According to the band's management, unfavorable weather conditions — heavy downpours during the construction and dismantling of the concert structures — damaged the stadium's turf on the stage side.
Experts have already assessed the condition of the grass and developed a restoration plan. The work is expected to take about a month, allowing athletes to return to the stadium by the end of August. The costs for the turf restoration are planned to be covered by the band's official tour insurer, Balcia.
Representatives of the Liepāja Olympic Center hope that the turf will be fully restored within a few weeks. As Dace Freidenfelde, public relations specialist of Liepāja municipality, explained to LETA, the concert organizers had anticipated potential risks and insured against turf damage before the event. The insurer's assessment will determine how the restoration costs will be covered.
The Daugava stadium has a capacity of approximately 4,000 spectators and meets international football standards. It is currently the home ground of football club Liepāja, which has advanced to the second round of the UEFA Conference League. The team's upcoming match against Austria Vienna will be held at the Sloka stadium while the Daugava pitch is being restored.
