No final decision has been made, but four candidates are under consideration for Ukraine's next prime minister, including Naftogaz head Serhii Koretskyi and Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov.

According to a source in the Ukrainian government, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has not yet made a final decision on the next prime minister, but four candidates are currently being considered. The source, speaking to Ukrainska Pravda, and MP Yaroslav Zhelezniak on Telegram, named the following individuals:
- Serhii Koretskyi, Chairman of the Executive Board of Naftogaz and Director of Ukrnafta;
- Denys Shmyhal, Minister of Energy;
- Mykhailo Fedorov, Minister of Defence;
- Ihor Terekhov, Mayor of Kharkiv.
Zelenskyy planned to meet with the candidates on Sunday, 12 July. It later emerged that he had already met with Koretskyi. The president said he had received a report from him and discussed “the steps our country needs to strengthen Ukraine's resilience and deliver the expected results under our state's updated political strategy”.
Earlier, Zelenskyy announced the need for a reshuffle of Ukraine's government and said changes would also be made to the leadership of the country's law enforcement agencies.
