In Saturday's roundup of British newspaper football stories, compiled by Sky Sports, the main item concerns the future of Lisandro Martinez, the Argentine defender at Manchester United of the English Premier League. According to The Sun, he wants to leave the club on a free transfer in the summer, and Atletico Madrid are interested. Martinez recently made comments aimed at the club's hierarchy after United's Champions League defeat to Atletico. The Mirror reports that United players were booed on the train to London ahead of their game against Chelsea.

Chelsea news

The Sun says Chelsea youngster Estevao Willian is reportedly confused by his lack of playing time under Xabi Alonso and has told friends he is in a "crisis". The Athletic reports that defender Maxence Lacroix is feared to be out until January with a hamstring injury. Mark Lawwell, a former recruitment chief at Scotland's Celtic, has reportedly landed a new job at Chelsea.

Everton and elsewhere

The Times reports there was a sense of "unease" among the Everton hierarchy about re-signing Jack Grealish after his unauthorised absence, which saw him dropped for the Carabao Cup tie against Newcastle. Everton won that game, but manager David Moyes was tight-lipped about Grealish's absence afterwards.

The Daily Record says former Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin is on the radar to fill the vacant managerial position at Sheffield Wednesday. The Scottish Sun reports that former Celtic striker Pierre van Hooijdonk has been cleared by Dutch club NAC Breda following an internal investigation into his son Sydney's January move to Portuguese side Estrela Amadora.

The Guardian writes that FIFA will fall short of gender equality in the prize money on offer at next year's Women's World Cup.
