Nearly €900,000 spent on pre-election campaigns; LPV, NA, and AS lead in spending

According to the Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB), Latvian political parties have spent almost €900,000 on pre-election advertising since June 6. The top spenders are Latvia First, the National Alliance, and the United List.

The Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB) has released data on political parties' pre-election advertising expenditures from June 6 to July 19. During this period, parties signed contracts for limited advertising expenses totaling €899,636.

Each party has a maximum allowed limit for these expenses of €1,039,582 for this election. This sum includes both party and individual candidate spending on ads and campaigning, but excludes costs such as ad production, campaign planning, design, or consulting.

The largest contracts so far were signed by the party "Latvia First" (LPV) at €251,626, followed by the "National Alliance" (NA) at €164,196, and the "United List" (AS) at €158,306. Other parties' spending includes: the Union of Greens and Farmers – €144,715, "The Progressives" – €83,028, "New Unity" – €47,485, and "Sovereign Power"/"Association New Latvians" – €25,212. The remaining political forces have declared smaller amounts.

KNAB reminds that individuals not affiliated with parties may spend no more than €11,700 on pre-election campaigning for or against any political force. This limit applies to advertising, sponsorship, charity, gifts, benefits, and postal services. So far, no such individual has declared any expenses.
