Tragic conflict at Priekule festival: man dies, police officer arrested

A tragic incident occurred during the Priekule city festival in the early hours of July 27. Following a conflict between individuals, a man sustained severe bodily harm. He was taken to an ambulance but later died from his injuries.
The State Police arrested one of their own colleagues – a junior inspector – at the scene. The officer was off-duty and under the influence of alcohol. A criminal proceeding has been initiated under Section 125, Part 3 of the Criminal Law, which concerns intentionally causing serious bodily harm that negligently results in the victim's death.
The investigation has been transferred to the Internal Security Bureau. Further details regarding the circumstances of the conflict and the identities of those involved are not being disclosed at this time.
