Priekule Secondary School to Close After 75 Years; Only Primary School Will Remain in Town
Due to declining student numbers, Priekule Secondary School will be closed, leaving only primary education in the border town. Secondary education will be available in Vaiņode.

After 75 years of operation, Priekule Secondary School will cease to exist this year as student numbers continue to shrink. Consequently, only primary school education will be offered in the Lithuanian border town of Priekule, while secondary school education will be provided in Vaiņode.
In total, five secondary schools will continue to operate in the largest Latvian municipality, Dienvidkurzeme. Several schools have been retained with smaller student populations to ensure accessibility to education in the region.
