Prosecutor Drops Criminal Case Against Dairy Company Farmi Piimatööstus
The State Prosecutor's Office has terminated criminal proceedings against Farmi Piimatööstus and five individuals due to lack of criminal offense.
The State Prosecutor's Office on Tuesday, July 28, closed the criminal case against the dairy company Farmi Piimatööstus and five related individuals, citing the absence of a criminal offense, as reported by Äripäev. The case was initiated in 2025 after the Tax and Customs Board suspected the company and the individuals of providing false information to the tax authority. The initial suspicion alleged that Farmi Piimatööstus had concealed an income tax liability of over €400,000.
The suspects included board member Toomas Juhani, former management board member Ülo Kivine, board members Roland Lepp and Sven Papp, and management board member Mairi Paiste.
State Prosecutor Sigrid Nurm explained that the suspicion stemmed from a sale-purchase transaction in which Farmi Piimatööstus sold its subsidiary Tere to its parent company Maag Grupp. "During the analysis of evidence collected in the criminal proceedings, it was not established that the suspects intentionally provided false data or manipulated initial data to reduce tax liabilities when assessing the market value of the enterprise," Nurm said.
