Prosecutor's Office receives case of man's abduction in Talsu County

The State Police have forwarded a criminal case to the prosecutor's office concerning the kidnapping of a man that took place on December 17, 2025, in Talsu County. The incident came to light when a medical facility in Talsi reported to police that a man had been abducted and suffered bodily injuries. During December, all three suspects were apprehended and placed in custody.

According to the investigation, around 10:20 p.m., the suspects arrived at the victim's property. They used violence by spraying pepper gas into his eyes and punching him in the jaw, causing unconsciousness. The victim had his hands and feet tied, was dragged to a vehicle, and taken to a swimming spot. There, he was beaten with fists and a metal rod, then stripped and left on the riverbank.

After the arrests, police received a report about the theft of power tools, which might have been the motive for the attack. A separate criminal process for theft has been initiated. One of the suspects had previously come to police attention regarding illegal substance trafficking. The case materials have been handed over to the prosecutor's office to initiate criminal proceedings.
