Paris Saint-Germain shook off a shaky start to their domestic season by delivering a commanding performance in their return to European competition. The French champions defeated Slovakia's Slovan Bratislava 6-1 at the Parc des Princes on September 9, opening their Champions League title defence in style.

Spanish forward Ferran Torres was the standout performer, scoring a hat-trick, while Ousmane Dembélé also had a major impact, netting twice and setting up two further goals for his teammates.

Results elsewhere

Elsewhere on matchday one of the Champions League, Liverpool narrowly beat Atlético Madrid 2-1, and Barcelona eased past Feyenoord with a 5-1 win. Last season's runners-up Arsenal claimed a tight 1-0 victory over Napoli.
