PSG beat Villarreal 6-0 in Champions League to lead the standings
French club Paris Saint-Germain won 6-0 away at Spain's Villarreal in round four of the UEFA Champions League and lead the table with 12 points. Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester United also won.

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), the winner of the last two editions of the UEFA Champions League, Europe's top club football competition, beat Spain's Villarreal 6-0 (4-0) away on Tuesday in the fourth round. After four rounds PSG have won every match, have the maximum 12 points and top the overall table.
Lead built in the first half
In the ninth minute, Joao Neves scored after a corner. Three minutes later the hosts made a mistake in their own penalty area and Desire Doue made it 2-0. A minute after that, Senny Mayulu struck from close range, and in the 17th minute Fabian Ruiz made it 4-0. Ruiz added another early in the second half, and with 12 minutes of normal time left David Boly completed the scoring for 6-0.
On Wednesday, Real Madrid, Liverpool and Real Betis of Seville, who also have no dropped points, can join PSG on the maximum.

Competition format
This is the third season since the new format was introduced: 36 teams play in a single league phase, and each plays eight different opponents. The final will be held in Madrid on 5 June. Last season PSG won their second title in a row, beating London's Arsenal on penalties in the final.
