Minister Puntulis' order: Theaters will not be closed, but ads and websites must be in the state language only
Latvian Culture Minister Nauris Puntulis clarifies that his order only requires informational materials (such as posters and websites) to be in the state language, without interfering with theaters' creative content or leading to closures.

Culture Minister Nauris Puntulis (National Alliance) has clarified the uproar caused by his order regarding the use of Russian in the cultural sphere. The minister emphasizes that the order does not entail closing any theater in Latvia and will not interfere with their creative content. However, from now on, all informational materials – including posters, advertisements, websites, and similar items – must be exclusively in the state language. This decision was made right after the Midsummer holidays.
