Hoopoe - The Hunter of Mole Crickets
Mole crickets are serious agricultural pests that spend most of their lives underground. However, the hoopoe bird is able to successfully locate them.

Mole crickets, known as zemesvēži or ķireļi in Latvian, are recognized as serious pests in crop farming. These insects spend most of their lives in underground tunnel labyrinths and rarely appear above ground.
However, there is a bird that can successfully find these pests – the hoopoe. This crested bird specializes in searching for mole crickets, naturally helping to control their populations.
