We are now exactly halfway through the preparations for the 28th Latvian Song and 18th Dance Festival. Recently, the Procurement Monitoring Bureau (IUB) decided to annul the results of two artistic concept competitions for festival concerts. The decision was based on a complaint from the second-place idea team, who argued that the scores were not properly justified. Jury members had only indicated point totals on evaluation sheets without providing detailed reasoning. The IUB deemed the complaint justified and granted an opportunity to correct this shortcoming. This situation has sparked broader discussions on how the canceled results will affect the festival preparations and whether it will cause delays or changes in the organizational process. Festival organizers now need to decide how to proceed to ensure a transparent and fair competition.
