Putin expands his protective service's central staff for the fourth time since invading Ukraine
Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree increasing the staff of the Federal Protective Service's central office, the fourth such expansion since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine began.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree expanding the central-office staff of Russia's Federal Protective Service (FSO), the outlet Kommersant reported.
Under the decree, the number of employees rose from 785 to 812, effective July 1. No reason was given for the increase.
Fourth expansion since 2022
This marks the fourth time the FSO's central-office staffing level has been raised since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The count went from 725 to 760 in late 2022, then to 775 as of January 1, 2024, and to 785 as of January 1, 2025.
Before the full-scale invasion, the FSO's central-office staffing level had stayed unchanged since 2010.
