Radiohead announce 2027 tour with Australian and Japanese dates

Radiohead revealed the itinerary for their May 2027 tour on Monday afternoon, confirming a long-awaited return to Australia after a 15-year absence, along with five concerts in Japan.

The tour opens at Perth's RAC Arena, where the band will play four shows starting 3 May. It then continues with six shows split between Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena and Sydney's Afterpay Arena.

A long gap since the last visit

The band's last full tour of Australia followed their 2011 album The King of Limbs. Frontman Thom Yorke did perform solo shows in the country in 2024, though one Melbourne performance was interrupted when he left the stage after being heckled by a pro-Palestine protester in the audience. He returned minutes later to close the night with Radiohead's 1997 hit Karma Police.

Last year, the band reunited for a series of European shows after a seven-year hiatus. The upcoming tour will also bring Radiohead back to Japan for the first time in 19 years, with five concerts scheduled at GMO Arena Saitama near Tokyo.

Radiohead have not released a studio album since 2016's A Moon Shaped Pool, but that hasn't dampened fan enthusiasm — ticket demand surged as soon as the tour was announced. The band first toured Australia in 1994 following their debut album Pablo Honey, which included their breakthrough single Creep.

Fans wanting tickets to the Australian shows can register through an online portal run by co-promoter Frontier Touring, which opened Monday evening. The portal will use a ballot-style system intended to give fans fairer access and reduce automated or unauthorised purchases, with tickets capped at four per city. Registration closes Thursday at 5pm AEST, with successful applicants notified by email from Friday and given the chance to buy tickets the following week.
