Raducanu overcomes injury scare to reach Queen's semis
Emma Raducanu battled through an injury scare to beat Kamilla Rakhimova and join fellow Briton Katie Boulter in the semi-finals of the Queen's tournament.

Emma Raducanu overcame a worrying fall to defeat Kamilla Rakhimova 6-3 7-5 and advance to the semi-finals at Queen's on Saturday. The British number one slipped on the grass while changing direction during the second set, requiring medical treatment off court. She returned with her left thigh strapped and lost her serve as she struggled to regain momentum. With her coaching team offering loud encouragement, the 2021 US Open champion dug deep. She broke Rakhimova to lead 5-4 but failed to serve out the match, allowing her opponent to fight back. However, Raducanu broke again and sealed victory on her third match point. "It was really tricky, she played some incredible tennis and got a lot of balls back," Raducanu told BBC TV. "It was an up-and-down match and I'm really grateful for the support I had in some tough moments. It was tough to take the fall, but I am proud how I regrouped with the help of you guys here." She added that it's great for British tennis to have two semi-finalists and wished Katie well. Raducanu will later Saturday face American teenager Iva Jovic for a place in Sunday's final, while Boulter takes on Croatia's Donna Vekic. Earlier, Raducanu earned her first win over a top-20 opponent in over a year, beating Sorana Cirstea, but could not start her quarter-final the night before. The match was briefly interrupted by military aircraft from the King's Trooping the Colour flypast.
