Podcast reviews first 100 days of Kulbergs' government
An LSM podcast broadcast on September 2 brought together Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs and coalition and opposition politicians to discuss the government's first 100 days in office, with independent experts also weighing in.
Latvian public broadcaster LSM aired a podcast on September 2 examining the first 100 days of the government led by Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs. The discussion included representatives from both the ruling coalition and the parliamentary opposition, alongside independent commentators.
Representing the coalition was Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs himself, a member of the Apvienotais saraksts (United List) party. He was joined by Economy Minister Viktors Valainis of the Union of Greens and Farmers and Interior Minister Jānis Dombrava of the National Alliance. Also taking part on behalf of the coalition was Saeima deputy Arvils Ašeradens of the New Unity party.
Opposition voices
The parliamentary opposition was represented by two faction leaders: Andris Šuvajevs, chairman of the Progressives' Saeima faction, and Linda Liepiņa, chairwoman of the Latvia First party's Saeima faction.
Independent assessment
Alongside the politicians, two independent commentators offered their evaluation of the government and its leader's performance: Daunis Auers, a professor at the University of Latvia and chairman of the board of the LaSER think tank, and publicist Māris Zanders.
Taken together, the podcast brought perspectives from within and outside government, as well as from academic and commentary circles, to bear on the opening months of Kulbergs' administration.
