Writer Māra Svīre Marks Her 90th Birthday
Latvian writer Māra Svīre turns 90 on 13 October. She has written more than 30 books and is the author of the story and screenplay for Jānis Streičs's film "Limuzīns Jāņu nakts krāsā".
Latvian writer Māra Svīre celebrates her 90th birthday on 13 October. Her body of work includes more than 30 books. She also wrote the story and screenplay on which director Jānis Streičs based his film "Limuzīns Jāņu nakts krāsā" ("A Limousine the Colour of Midsummer Night"), which is described as legendary.
Work at Latvian Radio
The writer is also part of the Latvian Radio family. For ten years she worked as an editor of children's and youth programmes. In addition, under the name Astra Priede she created the programme "Parunāsim, padomāsim".

To mark the occasion, LSM Kultūra has published a conversation with the writer. It is titled "Vajag dzīvot ar domu, ka būs labāk" ("One must live with the thought that things will get better").
