On September 3, the Latvian Society House hosted a celebration marking the 90th birthday of writer and translator Roalds Dobrovenskis. During the event, the honoree himself took part in the program, reading poetry and performing musical pieces.

Dobrovenskis was born in Russia but has built his literary career in connection with Latvia. Among his works, his extensive book "Rainis un viņa brāļi" (Rainis and His Brothers) stands out as a significant contribution to Latvian literature about one of the country's most prominent poets.

More recently, readers have taken notice of his newest work, "Manas demences hronika" (My Dementia Chronicle), which has received positive reception this year.

The anniversary event was dedicated both to the writer's lifelong body of work and to his connection with Latvia and its readers.
