Corporate expense management platform Ramp announced on Wednesday evening the launch of a new AI model routing service called Router. The tool allows users and companies to access and switch between various large language models through a single API. Ramp says it has relied on this internally built routing system for its own AI needs for the past three years before deciding to offer it externally.

The service is currently available only in the United States. It will be free to use through the end of 2026, though users still have to cover their own AI model inference costs. New users also receive a $26 credit as a launch offer. Ramp has not disclosed pricing plans for next year.

Similar to OpenRouter, but with fewer options

In terms of functionality, Router resembles the established service OpenRouter, though it currently offers a smaller selection of models. Available options include models from OpenAI, Anthropic, DeepSeek, Moonshot, Minimax, Nvidia, xAI, and Z.ai. The platform offers several routing strategies, such as prioritizing providers' cheaper flex usage tiers, directing requests based on up to three user-specified benchmarks, sending only difficult problems to more expensive models, or simply testing different models without manually switching between them. Users also get access to a dashboard showing token spend, cost, latency, fallback attempts, and other metrics.

The company says it retains model inputs, outputs, and tool calls for one year by default, though users can opt out of this data retention. Before using the data to improve the product, Ramp says it removes personally identifiable information.

The new service gives Ramp an entry point into the booming AI inference market while complementing its existing product line, which already includes AI token usage monitoring tools. In June, Ramp raised $750 million in funding at a $44 billion valuation.
