Russell fastest in both Azerbaijan GP practice sessions

The 15th round of the Formula 1 World Championship, the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, got underway on Thursday with two practice sessions, both of which were topped by Mercedes driver George Russell.

The British driver set the fastest lap time in each of the two sessions, ahead of the rest of the field. The Azerbaijan Grand Prix is held on the street circuit in Baku, one of the street tracks on the F1 calendar.

The practice sessions form part of the preparation process for the race weekend, during which teams and drivers fine-tune their car setups ahead of qualifying and the main race.
