Rauna weavers dedicate belt exhibition to Midsummer celebration
Until July 8, the Rauna library is hosting an exhibition titled “Latvian Belt Throughout Life” by the weavers' group “Drellis”, featuring patterned belts typical of Vidzeme and Zemgale.

In anticipation of the Midsummer festival (Līgo), the Rauna library has set up a handicraft exhibition in its shop windows. Titled “Latvian Belt Throughout Life”, it showcases the works of members of the Rauna weavers' group “Drellis”: Vija Vaišļa, Zane Ostrovska, Ligita Biģe, Sanita Leišavniece, and Rudīte Platā. Also on display is the newest scarf crafted by Silvija Kručāne, fresh from the loom.
The weavers' group “Drellis” has a tradition of presenting their latest works at the Rauna library during seasonal festivities each year. According to group leader Rudīte Platā, they choose a different thematic focus each time. This year, with the approach of Jāņi (Midsummer), the emphasis is on patterned and floral belts characteristic of the Vidzeme and Zemgale regions.
The exhibition “Latvian Belt Throughout Life” can be viewed in the shop windows of Rauna library until July 8.
