Ravinskis fails to make Vancouver Canucks roster, will start season in AHL
Latvian national team forward Andrejs Ravinskis was left off the Vancouver Canucks' preseason NHL roster and will begin the season with the team's AHL affiliate instead.
The Vancouver Canucks announced on Monday that they trimmed their preseason roster by 11 players, including Latvian national team forward Andrejs Ravinskis. The decision was announced by the club's general manager, Ryan Johnson.
Ravinskis was one of five players reassigned to the Abbotsford Canucks, Vancouver's American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate. This means he will begin the upcoming season at the AHL level rather than in the NHL.
Other roster moves
Besides Ravinskis, five more players will join the AHL team after their tryout contracts with the Vancouver club were terminated. Additionally, one player was returned to his junior team.
Following these changes, the Vancouver Canucks' preseason roster currently stands at 46 players, as the club continues to narrow its lineup ahead of the regular season.
Season opener
The Vancouver Canucks will play their first NHL regular-season game on September 29, on the road against the Edmonton Oilers.
